Hello...despite being someone who gets involved with stuff normally, I've  had to stubbornly take a rest from such stuff where the allotment is concerned.  However, I thought that whilst I was catching up with allotment related stuff today, I'd make a small contribution to our website and show BAS some support!

potatoes on growing sack

Potatoes in a very large builders sack -despite minimal attention, they
turned out big and plentiful, and at least I know where I'll find next
years "surprise" potato plants.

wild chamomile

Wild chamomile on the plot.

Comfrey plants - home to a million caterpillars at one point but
fortunately they seemed to keep themselves to themselves.  The plants
are now all chopped up and added to the compost heap to enrich the end
result.

Still there, despite it all.
A sweet and pretty gesture, considering the sheer amount of bindweed I've destroyed this year. It's tempting just to keep a little patch,
just for the flowers.

The end of the summer.

shy pumpkin

Early October - My little gem, sat on a bed of hay. Probably mauled by badgers by now, in which case, please send consolation wine.

11/10/09 - Slight Badger damage detected. Makeshift protection crafted, though not much can hold back a badger belly flop. Grrr.

17/10/09 - Fear of frost prompts emergency pumpkin collection...long suffering father carries it home and mentions that it was rather heavy. I should probably have listened to him when he asked if we were taking the wheelbarrow. Poor bloke.
